About

The coaching style of leadership is one of the best ways to improve staff performance, build the capacity of employees to better handle challenging situations, and retain your top professionals.

Executive Class is designed to provide convenient, affordable, and effective training to executives and senior professionals in the fields of urban planning, community and economic development and public affairs.

Unlike other programs that simply offer ideas, we give you the opportunity to practice your coaching skills with actual clients: mid-level professionals in The Leading Institute's Leading from the Middle program. Coaches meet with their clients once every two weeks for 45 minutes per session. The coaching commitment is three months.

Executive Class participants learn:

  • Better ways to assess opportunities and challenges for improving client performance. (A client is anyone who is being coached.)
  • How to build individual and organizational capacity through coaching.
  • The differences between mentoring and coaching.
  • Better ways to manage client resistance.

Executive Class 2007 is:

Convenient: Participants only need to commit to a half-day training session and five one-hour conference calls over three months.

Affordable: The program costs $200 per person. Full scholarships are available to each participant who commits to coaching a Leading from the Middle Fellow.

High quality: Executive Class is taught by Enrique Garcia-Bejar, an executive coach for major corporations and large nonprofit organizations; and Leonardo Vazquez, the Executive Director of The Leading Institute.
